ArtistXite - sell music direct from your blog/site/thingy
ArtistXite player - what is it?
…well a pretty cool embeddable jukebox for websites blogs etc
Solo Artists, Bands and labels can sell mp3’s from whatever page the player is embeded in, as clicking on “Buy Now” reveals a drop-down window, users select the track(s) and then checkout (this opens a pop-up payment window which uses paypal)
The artists/record label get 70% of any sales. Third party sites and blogs may also may also be encouraged to promote music from ArtistXite as they get the incentive of 10% earnings on any sale made through them.
hmm ….how do I embed the player again?

death of the album?
TuneCore have announced a new service whereby artists can release a single on digital distribution through various online stores (iTunes, AmazonMP3 etc) for a flat fee of £9.99 per year.
“Music is being created and sent out into the world in entirely new ways. Decades ago, everything revolved around the single, that 45 RPM piece of vinyl with its A side and B side. Then came the album (some credit the Beatles), with two sides each running approximately 25 minutes. Then the CD arrived and all but killed the “single”: the A-side and B-side split practically disappeared.
But now the world is digital, and with eMusic, Napster and then iTunes, the ability to buy just one song off an album or EP has returned. Artists are exploring other forms than full albums or even EPs, and suddenly the single has returned. I’ve seen our reports, I’ve watched it happen.
Who knows if this means the death of the album? But it’s clear musicians are creating and thinking about music in new ways. We wanted to allow them easier and less expensive ways to do what they want and reach their fans.” –Peter Wells -TuneCore
